:: THE PREHUNG DOOR

The Pre-Hung Door – What is it?
A pre-hung door is a fully self contained solution for a door opening, pre-finished at the factory, consisting of an engineered door frame called the door jamb, the door and architraves – all polished and supplied along with locks and hinges.

What Are The Advantages Of A Pre-hung Door Over The Traditional Doors & Frames?

1.

Pre-hung doors are made with engineered ecofriendly materials which have in-built properties to withstand climatic changes and have very high resistance to termites.

2.
Traditional door frames are installed when civil work begins on a building and as a result, the wooden frame absorbs all the water used in the process of construction. The water could cause the door to warp and twist over time. On the other hand, the pre-hung doors are installed after all the civil work has been completed and the premises are free from water, paint and other solvents.

3.
Traditional frames are manufactured at the site and the civil contractor has to take responsibility for purchasing and processing the wood apart from managing a huge work force on site for deployment.

Door Jambs however comes as ready to use and the civil contractor only needs to arrange for the installation on site.

4.
Traditional door frames tend to be more crude in appearance and often does not match the natural finish of the door. Pre-hung doors are full assembled at the factory, maintaining the same sophistication and finish for the door, jamb and architraves.

5.
The traditional door frames are fixed directly to the wall with the aid of metal clamps and as a result the frames continuously absorb the moisture from the walls. Door Jambs however are fixed a few millimeters away from the wall and are protected by a layer f expandable Poly-Urethane foam which protects the Jambs from any moisture absorption from the civil structure.

6.
Traditional frames do not cover the entire thickness of the wall. Door Jambs cover the entire thickness of the wall and also come with very attractive architraves on both sides of the wall – giving a very rich look to the space it goes into.
